About Me

Hi there! I’m Brook Holloway, and if you had told me ten years ago that I’d be guiding others into the world of cooking, I probably would’ve laughed while microwaving a sad, soggy burrito. I’m 38 now, based in Asheville, North Carolina, and somewhere between burning my first pancake and finally getting my scrambled eggs just right, I fell head over heels in love with the kitchen.

I didn’t go to culinary school. Nope, my training came from burnt toast, underseasoned stews, and way too many late nights watching cooking videos instead of sleeping. I started out just like you—wondering if I’d ever be able to make something edible without a box or a drive-thru. But every kitchen disaster was a step forward. Every failure taught me something, and eventually, I found myself cooking not just for survival, but for joy.

Cooking, to me, is not about perfection. It’s about feeding yourself, feeding others, and having a little fun along the way. I love sharing recipes that are simple, forgiving, and packed with flavor—meals that make you feel like a hero even on your worst days. I’ve learned that a grilled cheese sandwich made with love can rival any five-star dish, and that sometimes, all you need is a good knife, a hot pan, and a little confidence.

I started teaching beginner cooks because I remember what it felt like to be overwhelmed. All those fancy terms, precise measurements, and intimidating chefs made me feel like I didn’t belong. But here’s the secret: you do belong. If you can boil water, you can build a masterpiece. If you mess up? That’s just seasoning for the soul.
